BLINDED : AWOKEN
2013 - 2015
I began a series of mixed media collages using "Anthropologie" fashion catalogues. I admired each one, filled with visually appealing colors and compositions illustrating fabricated lives these models lived in temporarily, surrounded by luxuries I could not afford. Inspired, I began creating my own environments that told my story. I carefully concealed the models' identity with paper or thread strategically over their eyes, and placed them into an environment that represented an internal challenge of mine. Masking them provided symbolism for an important aspect of my life: self-reflection.

I felt blinded by many things that stopped me from reaching my full potential. This series followed me through several years through times of great self-development, introspection, and severe pain in my early twenties. This work was exhibited in a solo show in Las Vegas, NV at the Winchester Cultural Center.
